  • UC Davis STEM Connect is a career development program designed to expose UC Davis students to careers in biotech, biopharma, and related STEM industries. The program bridges the gap between academic training and industry careers through educational programming, professional development, and direct engagement with industry leaders.

  • The program is open to all enrolled:

    • UC Davis undergraduate. graduate, and professional students

    • Students interested in biotech, biopharma, life sciences, and adjacent STEM fields

    We welcome students from STEM and non-STEM backgrounds, including science, engineering, business, policy, communications, and operations.

  • The program is 5 weeks long and will run on Wednesdays from 5:00-6:30pm starting January 28,2026.

  • Program components include:

    • Career pathway discussions across technical and non-technical roles

    • Professional development workshops

    • Industry site visits

    • Networking events with industry professionals

  • Participants will gain:

    • Insight into diverse career pathways across the life sciences ecosystem

    • Professional development skills (career navigation, networking, personal branding)

    • Direct engagement with industry professionals and companies

    • Expanded professional networks and access to workforce opportunities

  • No, participants are not required to attend every session. However, space is limitedfor certain program components, including the Speed Networking Event and Industry Tour.

    Students who attend all the three virtual sessions will receive priority registration to these in-person opportunities.

    Additionally, students who complete all virtual sessions will receive a complimentary one-year membership to the MelanInScience community, which includes access to exclusive events, professional development programming, and our Slack community with job and opportunity boards.

  • At this time, the program does not offer academic credit. However, participants gain valuable professional experience, exposure, and industry connections that can support career readiness and post-graduate opportunities.
