MelanInScience is reimagining the future of biotech and life sciences by building pathways for underrepresented students and early-career professionals. We connect academic training to industry opportunity through industry-backed programming, internships, and partnerships with leading biotech and biopharma companies.
Since our founding in 2024, we’ve impacted hundreds of students across 15 states and 20 countries. We’re building a future where Black and Brown scientists are not just represented in STEM — they are at the forefront of innovation, leadership, and discovery.
The biotech industry thrives on innovation — but less than 6% of the STEM workforce is Black or Brown. That gap doesn’t just represent inequality, it represents untapped potential. MelanInScience exists to close that gap.
HOW WE DO IT
Our approach combines exposure, training, and connection to create real opportunities in biotech:
Industry Exposure – We open doors through site visits, networking events, and panels with top biotech and biopharma leaders.
Career Development – Workshops, resume coaching, and interview prep that turn potential into readiness.
Internship Placement – Direct pipelines to paid, high-impact roles in biotech and biopharma.
Community & Representation – An ecosystem of 500+ students and professionals building equity and shaping STEM’s future.
